Partner Strategy Tracking and Coverage Analytics: From One-Off Strategies to Ongoing Client Insight

A Purview strategy is not a one-time deliverable. It is the start of a programme that runs for months. PurLayer partners can now track every client strategy over time, score how much of it has actually been implemented and see the whole picture across their client book from a single portfolio view.

Why We Built Tracking

Partners told us the same thing repeatedly. Generating a strategy was the easy part. The hard part was everything after: proving progress at the next review, remembering which recommendations a client had already actioned and spotting the advice they were giving to nearly every client without a way to see it. A polished PDF answers the first meeting. It does nothing for the second, third and fourth.

Strategy tracking closes that loop. It turns a single generation into a living record of a client's Purview programme, and it rolls those records up into analytics across your entire book. It is included for every partner, sits inside the partner area you already use and never changes the strategy content itself.

A Client Tracker That Respects Privacy

Everything starts with the client. Each client gets a private label that only you see, and their simulations are grouped underneath it so you always know whose programme you are looking at.

  • Your labels, never stored client data: client labels are yours alone, chosen by you and there is no requirement to enter a real company name anywhere in the tracker
  • Every simulation in one place: each client card shows how many simulations you have tracked for them and when the record was created
  • Bring your history with you: earlier simulations that are not yet tracked can be imported into a client in a click, so tracking starts with your real work rather than a blank slate
  • Archive without losing anything: finished or dormant clients can be archived and brought back later, keeping your active list focused

Coverage Scorecards: Committed vs Implemented

A strategy lists what a client should do. A scorecard tells you how much of it they have actually done. Every tracked simulation can be scored against its own recommendations, giving you two headline numbers that mean very different things in a client conversation.

  • Implemented coverage: the share of recommendations the client has genuinely put in place, the number you can defend in front of an auditor
  • Committed coverage: implemented work plus everything the client has planned, so you can show direction of travel as well as current state
  • Coverage by objective and framework: the same figures broken down by governance objective and by the regulatory frameworks in scope, so weak areas are obvious at a glance
  • Licence-aware from the start: recommendations a client cannot action on their current Microsoft 365 licence are flagged, so a low score is never really a licensing gap in disguise

Trends: Proving Progress Over Time

The most valuable question at a review is simple: are we better off than last time? Tracking answers it directly by charting coverage across every scored simulation and letting you compare any two assessments side by side.

  • Coverage over time: implemented and committed coverage plotted across a client's scored simulations, so progress is a line rather than a memory
  • Compare two assessments: pick an earlier run and a later one to see exactly what moved, with the overall direction and delta called out
  • Movement by objective and framework: see which areas improved and which slipped, rather than a single headline that hides the detail
  • Newly appearing, resolved and regressed: recommendations are grouped by how they changed between runs, and a scope-change notice flags when the two assessments are not directly comparable

Portfolio Analytics Across Your Whole Book

Individual scorecards are useful. Seeing every client at once is where partners find leverage. The portfolio view aggregates your tracked clients into insight you cannot get from any single strategy.

  • Weakest objectives across your book: where the most clients are least covered, so you know which capability to build a repeatable offer around
  • Recurring recommendations: the advice you give across many clients, surfaced so you can productise it instead of rewriting it each time
  • Licence-blocked recommendations: advice clients cannot action on their current licence, an obvious and honest upsell conversation
  • Sector breakdown and client ranking: average coverage by sector and a ranking of clients weakest-first, so your attention goes where it moves the needle

A Recommendation Tracker You Can Act On

Analytics only matter if they turn into action. The recommendation tracker lets you set the status of each recommendation per client, filter down to what is still outstanding and hand the list to whatever tooling your delivery team already lives in.

  • Status per client: mark recommendations as complete, ignored or outstanding, right down to the individual client on a shared piece of advice
  • Focus on what is left: an outstanding-only filter and a segmented progress view keep the noise down and the remaining work front and centre
  • Export to your tracker: a one-way checklist export drops cleanly into Jira or Azure DevOps, mapping titles and statuses so nothing needs retyping
  • Export the whole book: generate a portfolio-level summary when you need a single view of progress across every client

Help Where You Need It, Hidden When You Do Not

The tracking area covers a lot of ground, so every meaningful figure, control and status carries an optional in-context explainer. Hover, focus or tap the help icon next to any element and a short, plain-language note tells you what it means and why it matters. Turn it off once your team knows their way around, and your preference is remembered.

The Value for Partners

Tracking changes what a PurLayer engagement is worth. A one-off strategy is a document. A tracked programme is a recurring conversation backed by evidence: coverage that climbs review after review, progress you can prove and portfolio insight that tells you where to invest next.

It also protects your time. The advice you repeat becomes visible and reusable, the work a client still owes is never lost between meetings and the next review starts from a chart instead of a scramble.

Getting Started

Strategy tracking is available to every PurLayer partner now. Save a client's simulation, score it from the scorecard; the trends and portfolio analytics then build themselves from there. Existing simulations can be imported into a client so you are tracking real work from day one.
